Bose CineMate 1 SR Digital Home Theater Speaker System

Perhaps I should give Bose CineMate 1 SR four stars for the price, but when you compare it with those others ill matched home teathers this thing is in another level altogether. As pointed everywhere true surround cannot be achieved with a soundbar, but this one can do almost 180 degrees steering and what a soundstage.
Bose Lifestyle 135 home entertainment system
The Bose CineMate 1 SR Digital Home Theater Speaker System sound resonates throughout the entire living room. The quality of the sound is absolutely great and we don't miss any of the spoken words. The sound is homogenous and consistent with no timbre changes. Most discrete systems cannot achieve that degree of coherence.
  • Spacious home theater sound from a sleek soundbar speaker
  • System sound customized to room size, shape and furnishings
  • Easily connects directly to your HDTV, no receiver required
  • Wireless Acoustimass® module for low-note performance
  • FlexmountTM technology ensures optimal performance wherever soundbar is positioned
The Bose CineMate 1 SR Digital Home Theater Speaker System setup is amazingly easy, just like everybody else says. A couple of minor issues: The soundbar lacks configurability you set up the soundbar one time and there are no other tweaks except for the bass. It depends on your TV's audio output which is usually a 2.1 sound, to work around this you can plug in one additional digital optic cable AUX and and coaxial AUX directly from your HD sources to get 5.1, or you could do like me and set up a HDMI switch that has a digital optical out for the soundbar.

I do have 2 qualms; after spending a hefty amount on this system, Bose has not worked in any bluetooth compatibility and there is no wall mount included. Not only do they average 3-4 times more expensive than any other brand, but the cheap stuff that should be included just isn't there. Shame on Bose...these little add ons may solidify this expensive purchase. The lack of these almost pushed me to an excellently reviewed Samsung product, that was about 1/3 the price.

The truth is, you can only get true surround with a wired 5.1, or 7.1 speaker system. So why venture into a sound bar? It is simple, many people, do not want to wire a room, or cut through walls and hang speakers on walls etc. Having tested every sound bar mentioned in this review, I can assure you that the Bose Cinemate 1 SR, comes closest to actually delivering a form of surround sound.

In the end, I am very happy with this Bose CineMate 1 SR Digital Home Theater Speaker System purchase. I am using 1 optical sound cord from the TV to this bar, and everything that has come through it has sounded amazing, and the movie effects rival that of a theatre. I just wish the company would include the little things that everybody else does.
